Paphos by Area

“Paphos” can mean the town or the whole district. The town is Kato Paphos (the harbour) and the Old Town (Ktima) above it; the Paphos region stretches from Petra tou Romiou in the east to the Akamas and Polis in the north-west, and up into Paphos Forest.

Area

Kato Paphos

The harbour, the archaeological park and most hotels — the easiest base without a car.

  • Best all-round base for a first visit, especially without a car.

Area

Paphos Old Town (Ktima)

The upper town: Kennedy Square, the municipal market, museums and everyday Paphos.

  • Good for a local feel and lower prices; you will commute to the beach and the harbour.

Area

Chloraka

A quieter coastal village-suburb just north of the Tombs of the Kings.

  • Fine for a resort-hotel stay; you will rely on buses, taxis or a car for most sightseeing.

Area

Geroskipou

Town east of Paphos known for loukoumi and the five-domed church of Agia Paraskevi.

  • Works if you have a car and want a beach and lower prices; less convenient for sightseeing on foot.

Area

Peyia & Coral Bay

Hillside village above Coral Bay — the best-known sandy beach near Paphos.

  • Best base for a beach-first holiday; plan on a car or buses for Paphos town.

Area

Polis & Latchi

Laid-back town and fishing harbour on Chrysochou Bay, the base for Blue Lagoon boats.

  • Excellent for a slow, nature-focused stay; too far to be a base for Paphos town sightseeing.
