Snorkelling Around Paphos
Short answer
Much of the Paphos coastline is rocky, which is good news for snorkelling: fish gather around reefs and boulders rather than over open sand. The clearest water is generally in the Akamas, particularly around the Blue Lagoon, best reached by boat.
What to expect
- From shore: rocky edges of beaches such as Coral Bay, and rocky stretches of the Kato Paphos coast.
- By boat: Blue Lagoon trips from Latchi usually include snorkelling time and often provide masks.
Who it's for
Anyone comfortable swimming in open water; a good family activity with life jackets for children.
How to choose
- For the best visibility, choose a morning boat trip to the Blue Lagoon.
- From shore, stay near rocks but away from boat lanes and harbour entrances.
Before you book
- Bring your own mask if you can — rental gear varies in quality.
- Wear water shoes on rocky entries and avoid touching sea urchins.
