Day trip from Paphos
Avakas Gorge
Short answer
Avakas Gorge is a narrow limestone gorge cutting inland from the western Akamas coast near Agios Georgios. At its narrowest the walls close to a few metres apart. The walk in is short but rocky, and the gorge can be closed after heavy rain or rockfalls — check before you set off.

Who it's for
Reasonably fit walkers with good shoes. Not for young children or anyone unsteady on rocky ground.
Getting there
About 40 minutes from Paphos via Coral Bay and Agios Georgios; the final section is unpaved.
Without a car: Some Akamas jeep safaris include a stop at Avakas.

Leave Paphos early, heading through Coral Bay towards Agios Georgios.
